Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD JOEL COHEN Surrounded by family, Howard Joel Cohen passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2004. Predeceased by his father Al in 1979, Howard leaves to mourn his partner Shari Greenberg; children, Sarah, Ashton, Dylan and Hailey; mother Shirley Forgan; brother Neil (Darlene Hendler) and bonus brother Sheldon Forgan; nephew Matthew Cohen and grandson Cody. Howard was born in Toronto on May 27, 1959 but grew up in Winnipeg where he attended public school prior to graduating from the University of Manitoba. At the time of his passing, Howard was employed as a Senior Technical Analyst with Canada Revenue Agency. During his eighteen year career with the federal government he held positions in Ottawa, Brandon and Winnipeg. Howard will be remembered for his unique sense of humour, eclectic taste in movies and a positive, relaxed attitude that allowed him to take everything in stride. Howard will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his children and family. He always sought ways to nurture the children and to enrich their lives through education and such activities as BNai Brith Camp, dance, theatre, music lessons and sports. In recent years, Howard enjoyed spending time at the Sandy Hook cottage with Shari, his children and their two dogs. Although Howards life ended far too soon, he taught us many lessons, particularly throughout the past few months. He eased the pain of family and friends by accepting his fate and making his wishes known in a pragmatic way that characterized Howards approach to life. Although his life was far too brief, he will be forever loved and remembered. The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to compassionate caregivers, Dr. Lorne Brandes of Cancer Care Manitoba and palliative care nurse Maryanne Bruce. We also wish to acknowledge the support provided by Howards dearest friend of thirty years, Barry Chochinov (Sharla). Services will be held on Wednesday March 31 at 1:00 p.m. at Congregation Etz Chayim, 123 Matheson Avenue E. with interment to follow at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. Shiva will be held at 1503-200 Tuxedo Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in trust for Howards children to Neil Cohen, 1300 Dudley Cresc., Winnipeg, MB R3M 1P3.
